Review:
Shadow Days is a free prequel novella set the weeks leading up to the beginning of Nightshade. This is Shay's story and I enjoyed reading from his perspective. Shay has just turned 18 when he receives a call from his uncle telling him he has to move from Portland to live in the family estate in Vail, Colorado. Not at all happy about having to leave his friends Shay is dreading making yet another move and having to fit in at a new school for his senior year.
When he arrives at the family estate Shay feels isolated as he doesn't know anyone so he uses facebook and his blog to keep in contact with his friends from Portland. As he waits to start his new school he spends his time exploring the creepy estate and sharing what he finds via his blog.
This is a great prequel that I'm sure any Nightshade fan will really enjoy. I feel like I know Shay a lot better now and I like him more because of that. It was great to get more information about the Rowan estate and it makes things clearer about how and why Shay had broken into the forbidden library.
If you've already read Nightshade I'm sure you'll enjoy reading Shadow Days and if you're not sure if you want to try the series or not I'm sure this will help you make your mind up.

Review: Her Warrior Angel - Felicity Heaton
Einar is one of Heaven’s best hunters and he’s on a mission to uncover why an angel was working with demons. When he finds the first demon fighting a beautiful woman named Taylor, he intervenes and saves her life. Taylor has spent her whole life protecting London from the lowest demons and she’s not about to let an angel waltz into her city and take over her job, and she’s certainly not about to fall in love with him, even if he is gorgeous. The reason why she can’t is simple—she’s half demon.
There is no love in this world more forbidden than that between an angel and a demon.
Sense tells Taylor to get out before she gets her heart broken, but she winds up convincing Einar to partner with her instead. Einar is certain that working with Taylor is a bad idea, and not only because he can’t focus when he’s around her, but he can’t let her go. The mission leads them deep into the city’s underworld, where old flames burn Taylor while new flames of passion and fear of the consequences consume them, and the threat of Einar’s demons hangs over them both.
Can a love so forbidden ever have a happy ending or are they destined to break each other’s hearts?

Review:
Einar is an angel but he's also a hunter, one of the best at tracking down demons who are causing trouble on earth. He has been sent to find 3 demons who have been the cause of multiple human deaths but he gets more than he bargained for when he finds Taylor. Taylor was born half demon and half human but she spends her life hunting the demons who prey on humans and other weaker demons. When Einar tracks down one of the demons he has been searching for he finds Taylor fighting it and is drawn to her strength and skill. The attraction isn't one sided but they both know that there is nothing more forbidden than love between an angel and a demon. With Einar needing Taylor's help to track down the remaining demons can they resist each other and what will happen to them if they don't?
Her Warrior Angel is the 3rd story in Felicity Heaton's Her Angel series and although it's the last book currently available I really hope we will get to read more about these characters in the future. I'm sure there is more to tell & I'm looking forward to meeting more of these sexy angels (have you seen the covers for this series - you can't tell me they're not hot!). Although the stories in this series can be read as a stand alone story I'd still recommend reading them in order - you really won't want to miss any of them.
Although Einar didn't quite manage to steal me away from Lukas (the hero of Her Fallen Angel) he came pretty close. He is an alpha male at his best and I'm sure he'll capture plenty of hearts. Taylor is probably my favorite of the heroine's in the series so far and is an ideal match for Einar, they are both physically strong and determined to stop demons from hurting others. Both are courageous, protective and have serious fighting skills which leads to a more action packed story than the first two novellas. The story is fast paced and will keep you gripped from the very beginning, Felicity has proved that she can write a good fight scene that will make it easy for you to picture every move made as you are reading.
Even though the story is full of action there is still time for the romance and I continue to be impressed with how well Felicity manages to round out her characters in a novella. I didn't find any of the romance unbelievable which can often be a problem with shorter stories and I can't wait to see what she can do with a full length novel. This series is one I'd definitely recommend to fans of paranormal romance, especially if you like them to include a scorching heat level. This is a series not to be missed.

Review: Her Fallen Angel - Felicity Heaton
Annelie fell for Lukas the moment he walked into her pub three years ago. He’s stunning, his vivid green eyes lending to his otherworldly beauty, but he’s seriously out of her league. When he tells her that she’s beautiful and confesses that he wants her, she can’t resist him and his passionate kiss. She unleashes her desire and seizes the moment and Lukas with both hands. But Lukas has a secret, one that will test Annelie’s love for him and threaten to tear them apart.
He’s an angel.
Annelie can’t believe it when Lukas says that their feelings for each other aren’t a sin, but she can believe his pain when he tells her the reason he’s on Earth. He is fallen, cast out of Heaven as punishment for a crime he didn’t commit. Lukas isn’t about to give up and accept his fate though. He’s determined to prove both his innocence and his love for Annelie, and to show her that the intense passion they share is real.
When Lukas and Apollyon discover who framed him, will he be able to stop them from going after Serenity and Annelie? Will he be able to protect the woman he loves and fly away with her into their forever after?

Review:
Annelie has has a crush on Lukas since he first started visiting the bar she runs 3 years ago but she didn't realise that she loved him until he disappeared for 3 weeks. Lukas is a fallen angel who was framed for a crime he didn't commit, he is desperate to prove his innocence and have his fallen status revoked. The only thing keeping him sane over the last 3 years has been Annelie and he has fallen for her in a big way. Never in her wildest dreams did Annelie think that her feelings could be returned by this gorgeous man but when he comes to the bar and is obviously upset she wants to comfort him and make him smile again. She offers to drive him home as he has been drinking and her life will never be the same again.
Now I loved Apollyon in Her Dark Angel and didn't think Felicity Heaton would be able to top him but I'm sorry Apollyon, Lukas has totally stolen my heart! I'm not sure how she can top Her Fallen Angel but I can't wait to read Her Warrior Angel to see if she manages it.
Things between Annelie and Lukas may heat up quickly but it doesn't feel at all rushed, you can tell they both have feelings for each other and oh boy can Felicity write a hot, frantic love scene (I'm surprised it didn't melt my ereader!) You could feel the urgency between the characters and it made for intense reading - I was definitely left in need of a cold shower. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Lukas and Annelie and was completely unable to put the book down.
The mystery of who had set Lukas up was interesting and I loved the fact that we got to see Apollyon and Serenity again when Apollyon agrees to help Lukas discover who is behind the plot. Poor Annelie is in for a shock when she discovers that Lukas is an angel and understandably this makes her unsure if she should pursue a relationship with him. I felt her feelings were realistic but was glad Serenity was able to help her work through her issues.
If I had any complaint about this series it would be that I'd love to see all of these characters star in a full length story - I don't think I could get too much of them, especially Lukas! - but I'd still highly recommend these novellas. Although the series doesn't need to be read in order I would recommend reading Her Dark Angel first as I really enjoyed both stories. I'd definitely recommend Her Fallen Angel to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance or erotic read. These stories are great for when you're looking for a quick read but be warned you will want to read them in one sitting so make sure you have enough time to do that. I can't wait to see what Felicity Heaton comes up with next.

Quick Review: Her Heart's Divide - Kathleen Dienne
Lila was a faithful, loyal wife.
Ryan was her sexy, loving husband.
And so was Jack...?
Jack, however, was her boss, not her husband-why was he claiming her as his own? Lila had been passionately happy with Ryan for more than seven years. Yes, there'd been a moment when she'd first been attracted to Jack, but then she'd met his best friend, Ryan. They'd fallen in love and married. Jack claimed that in his world, their attraction had led to the altar.
And now she was caught between two men-two husbands-in the wildest situation Lila could ever have imagined. But what she wasn't imagining were the two men touching her, pleasing her, caressing her...

Review:
Lila and Ryan are happily married but one day their friend Jack comes home from work convinced that Lila is his wife not Ryan's. Lila and Ryan don't know what to make of Jack's claims but he knows things about Lila that he shouldn't possibly know. What if Jack's claims are real in an alternative reality? While they try to figure out what has happened Lila finds herself drawn to both men but should she persue her fantasy to be with them both?
Her Heart's Divide is a novella and with just 66 pages I wasn't sure how well it would be able to draw me into the story but I found myself pleasantly surprised. Although I would have loved to see this made into a full lenght novel it was an enjoyable erotic read. I liked all of the characters and would have liked to get to know them better (I want to know what happened in the alternative world!). This was a quick read but a steamy one and I really enjoyed the menage with Lila, Ryan and Jack.
I'd definitley recommend this ones to fans of erotic romance and menage scenes. Kathleen Dienne was a new author for me but I'll be looking out for more of her work in the future.

During their first Christmas together, surrounded by the people they love most, Derek and Nick give each other the less tangible gifts that matter most--and the too tangible gifts that mean forever.

Review:
I'm not going to give any details on the plot as it is a short story & I don't want to ruin it for you. I would like to point out that this story will include major spoilers for Crossroads so I would strongly recommend reading Crossroads first.
I love getting to see a glimpse of a couple after they get their happy ending and it was great to see how Derek and Nick are spending their first Christmas. The story is set not long after the ending of Crossroads so they are still trying to deal with the aftermath of previous events but they are still crazy about each other. With both of them being very family oriented they are looking forward to spending Christmas with their loved ones and it was good to see Michelle and Kat to find out how they are coping.
It's aways nice when authors offer free short stories & I often read them before buying an author's books to see if I think I'll like their writing style. However in this case I'd strongly recommend reading the previous 2 books in the series first - at least read Crossroads as this would really give away the ending of the book if you decide to go back to that one later. Moira Rogers do have other free reads on their website that don't include spoilers though so you could check those out if you want to get a taster of their writing.
I really love the Southern Arcana series and would definitely recommend giving it a try if you haven't already. A Peyton Family Christmas is a nice addition to the series and a great way of getting into the Christmas spirit.

Review: Crossroads - Moira Rogers
Derek Gabriel was born human in family of psychics, aware of the supernatural world but never a part of it...until a rogue shapeshifter took humanity from him in a vicious attack. He's spent two years struggling to adjust, not just to a change that's driven many insane, but also to the prejudices of a culture where transformed wolves are considered inferior. A serious struggle, indeed, when the woman who attracts the man and the wolf inside him is the daughter of the most powerful wolf in the country.
For Nicole Peyton, nothing is more important than escaping the stifling confines of elite shapeshifter society, an old-fashioned world where women are valued only for their bloodlines and bank accounts. In New Orleans, she has a bar she loves, friends she cares for, and a smoldering, unspoken tension with an unsuitable but incredibly attractive man.
Neither could predict how quickly forbidden longing would erupt into burning need, but Nick and Derek have more than themselves to think about when Nick's sister arrives in the city with a shapeshifter strike team hard on her heels. The only way Nick can save her sister may be to play by the Conclave's rules--but it will mean giving up the man she's falling in love with, unless he's willing to risk everything in a challenge that will shake the foundations of their world.

Review:
Derek and Nicole (Nick) have both had feelings for each other for a long time now but the time has never been right for them to act on it. Derek was turned into a werewolf after a vicious attack a couple of years ago and since then has been trying to deal with his new supernatural abilities. It hasn't been easy for him to come to terms with his inner wolf and he has always been afraid of losing control and hurting Nick. Nick's father is an Alpha and also the head of the Conclave which is basically the council for American werewolves. This means Nick is like a princess in the world of born werewolves but she wants nothing to do with politics and has escaped from New York to New Orleans where she is happy running a bar. Nick wants nothing more than to be with Derek but as far as the born werewolves are concerned the turned werewolves are second class citizens and any relationship between them would be looked down on by her family.
Just as they are starting to think that they might be able to have a future together Nick's sister Michelle turns up and she's in big trouble. As a powerful magic user (known as a seer) Michelle's life has always been under the control of the Conclave, it's only the fact that her father is so powerful that she wasn't killed as a child. Michelle is forbidden from having any kind of relationship but she has fallen in love with her bodyguard Aaron and is now pregnant. The Conclave want to see Aaron killed for treason but Nick will do anything to protect Michelle & her family - even if it means giving up the love of her life.
Crossroads is book 2 in the Southern Arcana series and although it can be read as a stand alone novel I'd strongly recommend reading Crux first - this really is a series that you don't want to miss out on! Although this is a paranormal romance it is one that straddles the lines with urban fantasy and I'd recommend it to fans of both genres.
We were first introduced to Nick and Derek in Crux so we know they both have feelings for each other and I for one was eager to see them together as a couple. They actually get together quite quickly which I was pleased about and the passion between them was steamy to the extreme. It isn't just sex though and although their mating instincts play a role you can tell how much they mean to each other. Nick is a strong heroine and one who will do anything to protect those she cares about - her twin sister in particular. She feels guilty that life has been so hard for Michelle and wants to see things work out for her even if it means sacrificing her own happiness to achieve that. I admired Nick for the way she cares about Michelle and was desperate to see how things could work out for them both.
Derek is a great hero and perfectly matched to Nick. He also cares a great deal about his family and immediately offers to do anything he can to help Michelle and Aaron. His life has been hard since he was turned into a werewolf and he is sick of being considered a second class citizen by the Conclave and other born wolves. He has no idea how ruthless the Conclave are prepared to be in order to get what they want but he's about to learn the hard way. Derek is not going to leave Nick to face them alone though and is prepared to do whatever it takes to help both her and Michelle.
Crossroads is a fast paced read and one I read in one sitting because I couldn't bear to put it down. The romance was hot enough to leave me needing a cold shower and I both laughed and wanted to cry as I was reading - it really did have everything you could ask for. I enjoy spending time in the world Moira Rogers (writing duo Bree & Donna) have created and I'm relieved that I don't have too long to wait until the next installment (Deadlock) will be released. The series includes a strong cast of secondary characters and I'm looking forward to reading each of their stories - Andrew & Alec's in particular - it was also nice to get to see Mackenzie and Jackson again (the main characters from Crux). If you haven't already started the Southern Arcana series then I'd strongly recommend you get hold of Crux as soon as possible.

Review: Vampire for Christmas - Felicity Heaton
It was one last mission. Shannon, a demon hunter with the agency, is looking forward to leaving behind the small town and the vampire she’s been stuck with for the past two years. Things are getting complicated fast and she wants out. A fresh start, free of her vampire partner, awaits her if she can survive their final mission and the lonely Christmas holidays.
It was one last mission. Rafe, a vampire doing time with the agency, watches it approach with dread weighing heavily in his stomach. Two years of working with Shannon has been difficult, especially since he started falling for her, but he doesn’t want their partnership to end. He has barely a few days to make her face her feelings and stop her from leaving, and he intends to do just that.
When a slimy demon threatens the season of peace and goodwill, it’s the chance Rafe has been waiting for and the moment Shannon secretly fears. Rafe’s determination to prise open her heart and her own resolve to keep it closed clash as violently as they do with the demon, and threatens to end as messily.
Can Rafe make Shannon see that his love for her is real and that she feels something for him too? Can Shannon face her fears and her past, and stop herself from running away from both? Will a wish on a star bring her what her heart truly desires—a vampire for Christmas?

Review:
Shannon is a demon hunter and has been working reluctantly with vampire Rafe as her partner for the last 2 years. She just has one last mission to get through before she can move on to her new assignment on the other side of the country and will never have to see him again. It hasn't been easy for Rafe to work alongside Shannon, especially since he started falling for her, so he is determined to use this last mission to convince her they belong together. Will he be able to manage it or will he have to watch her walk away from him forever?
Vampire for Christmas is an enjoyable holiday novella perfect for reading curled up in front of the fire with a mug of hot chocolate in the run up to Christmas. The romance between Rafe and Shannon is sweet and builds up to a steamy climax. Although their relationship develops quickly (it has to in a novella) it is still believable because of their shared history. Shannon wasn't my favorite character to start with but she grew on me as I found out more about her history & the reason she hates vampires so much. Rafe on the other hand I liked from the beginning & I'd love to see more of them both in the future. The fight scenes with the slime demon were well written & I had quite vivid pictures of it's slime filled attacks!
Overall this was a great quick, enjoyable read and one perfect to get you in the Christmas mood. I'd recommend it to any paranormal romance fan and am sure I'll be pulling this one out again next December for a re-read.

Review: Crux - Moira Rogers
Jackson Holt makes a decent living as a private investigator in New Orleans, home of one of the largest underground supernatural populations in the United States. He and his partners have never met a case they couldn't crack...until a local bar owner asks him to do a little digging on her newest hire.
New Orleans is the fourth destination in as many months for Mackenzie Brooks, a woman on the run from a deranged stalker. After all, any man who shows up on her doorstep claiming to be her destined lover has more than a few screws loose. But crazy doesn't explain why he always finds her no matter how far she runs.
When her well-meaning boss puts a PI on her case, Mackenzie comes face to face with the incredible truth: magic is real, and whatever spell has kept her hidden and separate from the paranormal world is rapidly deteriorating.
With time running out, she has no choice but to trust Jackson as he struggles to uncover the truth of her past-and her destiny.

Review:
Mackenzie is running scared, trying to escape from a crazy stalker who seems to be able to find her no matter where she goes. Running out of options she finds herself a job in a bar to try and build up her dwindling savings and although she finds herself wishing she could stay in New Orleans she knows she must be ready to leave at a moments notice. Her new boss Nicole is worried about her, she knows Kenzie is hiding something and fears for her safety so she asks her friend and PI Jackson to investigate. Jackson finds out more than he bargained for and Kenzie soon discovers a whole supernatural society that she had no idea existed.
Crux is a book I purchased ages ago and I have no idea why it has taken me so long to get around to reading it - I wish I'd started it sooner but the good news is that book 2 (Crossroads) is already available and I only have to wait until January to get my hands on book 3 (Deadlock). I won't be leaving it too long before I read both of those because I thoroughly enjoyed Crux.
Mackenzie is a great heroine, although she is scared of her stalker and then shocked when she discovers this whole supernatural world she doesn't whine and complain the whole time. She isn't a wimpy character and she is prepared to help herself rather than just sit back and wait to be rescued. Having said that I also liked the fact that she is willing to accept advice from those who know more about the situation she finds herself in than she does. Although she is wary of Jackson and Nicole at first she feels instinctively that she can trust them and is grateful for the help and support they offer her.
Jackson is a man who would be easy to fall for, a bit of a player he certainly has the charm and the looks but he also has a more sensitive and caring side and he cooks a mean Italian too. Although he is protective he doesn't act in an overbearing way which is something I really liked about him. Jackson and Kenzie together have fantastic chemistry and I loved the sexual tension between them. There is something more fulfilling about a relationship where the characters don't immediately jump into bed together and believe me it is well worth the wait with these two. I also loved the banter between them and would have been happy to spend more time with the couple.
Although this is a paranormal romance it is one that straddles the lines with urban fantasy and has plenty of action and an interesting plot to back it up. There is a great cast of supporting characters and although there are a few different names to remember we got to know enough about each of them to make me want to spend more time with them. Each of the characters have their own distinctive personality and I didn't find I had any problems remembering who was who.
I was impressed with the world building and am looking forward to spending more time with these characters. Crux was a great start to a series which has left me itching to start reading the next book and I'm sure this series will only get better. I'd definitely recommend Crux to fans of both paranormal romance and urban fantasy, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! If you haven't tried anything by Moira Rogers (writing duo Bree and Donna) yet then you're missing out and this would definitely be a good place to start.

Review: Halloween Fantasies - Katie Salidas
Touted as the sexiest party of the year, the annual Halloween Fantasy Ball is the one place a girl can let loose and succumb to her wildest fantasies.
Disguised as a sexy vampire huntress, Sasha captures the attention of Dante, a real life creature of the night. For Sasha, meeting bona-fide vampire is enough to fulfill one of her life long fantasies. She’s ready to go home a happy woman.
But Dante has other plans. It is after all, a night of fantasies, and he has a few of his own to share.
Visit Katie Salidas' Website for more information.
Review:
Halloween Fantasies is a thoroughly enjoyable erotic novella guaranteed to add a little spice to your holiday, in fact I think it might just have become my new Halloween tradition to read this story.
I don't want to give too much away about the plot because it is a short story and it would be too easy to give you spoilers but I this is the perfect read for when you're looking for something short and steamy for a quick read. I often find the romance unbelievable when you're expected to believe the characters fall madly in love within a couple of pages so one of the things I liked the most about this novella is that it's about lust, attraction and fulfilling your wildest fantasies. It is easy to feel the attraction between the main characters & I really hope that Katie will revisit Sasha and Dante in a future book / novella.
Although this does include a m/f/m menage it doesn't include any back door activity so even if that is something you'd usually be uncomfortable with I'd still recommend this if you like erotica. This story would definitely count as one of my recommended reads and I know I'll be checking out anything Katie releases in the future!

Review: Demon Hunts - C.E. Murphy

Review:
Joanne Walker is a police officer but she is also a shaman and along with her partner Billy Holiday she investigates crimes that involve the supernatural. Joanne isn't an expert Shaman though, she is new to her powers and is definitely having to learn on the job. This time they are up against a serial killer who is eating part of their victims but leaving absolutely no evidence behind to give the police a clue to their identity. Can Joanne track down the killer using her magical abilities before he claims any more victims?
Before I start this review I have a confession to make - when I started Demon Hunts I didn't realise it was book 5 in a series (which is very unlike me as I'm quite obsessive about reading series in order!) so I did find myself getting a little confused in places as I wasn't sure of the back story. I still really enjoyed the book and am now planning on reading the other books but I have a feeling that I've probably picked up on some major spoilers for previous stories so I would strongly recommend reading this series in order. Although this review won't include spoilers for Demon Hunts I can't guarantee it won't include spoilers for previous stories so you might want to skip reading if you're not up to date with the series. If you're an urban fantasy fan and like an action packed story with a strong female heroine then I'd definitely recommend you give the first book Urban Shaman a try though.
I really do wish I'd read this series in the correct order, I have a feeling that Joanne has done a lot of growing to get to where she is today and I'd like to have seen that happening (I'm going to be checking that by reading the earlier books but am going to leave it a few months so that I can hopefully forget any spoilers I picked up by reading this one). I thought she was a great main character, she is obviously still learning about her abilities and it appears that she has struggled to come to terms with the new supernatural world that she has found herself in but she is doing a great job of it. Joanne was a very realistic character and I enjoyed listening to her voice as she tells the story.
There are also a lot of interesting side characters who I'm looking forward to getting to know more about. Billy added a lot of comedy to the story and I enjoyed watching him & Joanne work together but it was also nice to see him with his wife and family too. One of my favorite characters was Coyote, he seems to hold his cards quite close to his chest but I'm hoping to see more of him and find out some of his secrets in future books. Gary and Morrison were both interesting characters and ones I'd have liked to have seen more of but I get the feeling that they've both played major roles in previous stories. C.E. Murphy has created a detailed world but I felt like I was missing out on some important information by picking up the series so late in. I'm looking forward to investigating the world more fully in the future and think I'm going to become a big fan of this series by the time I've caught up.

Review: Her Dark Angel - Felicity Heaton

Serenity is shocked when a gorgeous black-winged angel shows up in her city of Paris claiming that she called him when she was only casting a simple vengeance spell. Review:
Apollyon has spent centuries guarding the gates of hell and has been longing to be back on earth and able to fly again. He is lonely and spends his time watching events on earth while waiting for his master to call him. When he finally hears the call he is surprised to find it was not his master who called him. Serenity is a witch and is desperate to get revenge on her cheating ex-boyfriend. When she casts a vengeance spell the last thing she is expecting is a visit from the angel of death. Apollyon offers to help her get revenge on her ex but will their charade become more as the attraction between them blossoms?
Her Dark Angel is a novella and contains everything you'd expect from an erotic short story and makes a great quick read. While I enjoy smut I sometimes find that it is hard to connect to the characters in a novella, it can be difficult for an author to build much of an emotional connection between the characters in so few words. I have to say I think Felicity Heaton did a great job of showing the relationship between Apollyon and Serenity develop and although I would have loved to read more about these two I was very happy with the way things built between them.
I have to say I definitely fell for Apollyon - he is one HAWT angel. I absolutely loved the description of his wings and how it felt to fly - he could fly me off on a romantic date any day!! There are some scorching love scenes (I love kitchen & shower smex) & I was kept turning the pages to see how things turned out for the couple. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a quick, erotic paranormal romance and am very much looking forward to reading Her Fallen Angel.

Review: Cattitude - Edie Ramer
It’s all in the Cattitude . . .
After Belle the cat switches bodies with a psychic on the run from a murderer, she wants her perfect cat body back instead of this furless human one. But she doesn’t count on falling in love with her former owner. Or that a CEO and a beauty queen want to use up her nine lives. Now is her chance to prove anything a human can do, a cat can do better.
Visit Edie Ramer's website for more information.
Cattitude can be purchased from Smashwords and is also available in the Kindle store from Amazon.
Review:
Belle is happy with her life as a cat, she lives with her owner Max and is adored by him and his brother & sister. She rules the roost as all cats do and is fed, petted and fussed over on demand - it's a cats life! When she is in an accident and exchanges bodies with a human she is horrified with her new hairless, clumsy body and wants nothing more than to go back to her life as a cat. However with more than one person out to get her she is going to have to use all her cat wiles to make sure her human body survives long enough for her to change back into a cat. As she tries to find out what is going on she becomes closer to Max realising she has feelings for him that she never felt when she was a cat. Will she decide to remain human so that her and Max can be together? And if she does what will happen to the human who is now trapped in her old body?
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Cattitude, I love cats so on the one hand I was really looking forward to it but I was a bit unsure about the whole idea of a cat becoming a human and falling in love with a man. I just wasn't sure how well it would work & if it would be easy to relate to Belle. I have to say I was impressed with this story & thought Edie Ramer did a fantastic job.
Belle is a wonderful character and Edie has perfectly captured the essence of a cat in her - Belle's attitude to life & humans reminded me of my cats so many times. I loved watching Belle adjust to life in a human body - everything she knows about humans comes from the way she has been adored by the family who rescued her and from watching TV with them so she has some very funny ideas about how things work.
The supporting characters are all well written and really help to make the story. I really loved Max and his family and even the bad guys are well rounded so you find out more about why they act the way they do. Sorcha (the woman who ends up in Belle's cat body) could be a little irritating at times but then again she has just been switched into a cats body without being given a choice in the matter so I guess it was understandable and I really liked the way there is a happy ending for her as well as for Belle.
Cattitude is a sweet romance that will have you laughing out loud and is a must for any cat fans. The story is light hearted, comes with a great cast of characters and an amusing tale that will keep you turning the pages and leaving you wanting more. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try and am looking forward to seeing what Edie Ramer comes up with in the future.

Review: Wolf Games - Vivian Arend

Erik expected to meet Maggie in Whitehorse to escort her to the home of her sister, his pack’s Omega. Sheer chance puts him in the right place at the right time to catch her, but the realization that hits him with the force of a full body shot is no accident. She’s his mate. An even bigger shock? She wants no part of him—not until she resolves her issues.
She’ll have to work fast, because they’re both selected to represent the pack during the premier sporting event for wolves in the north. Not only will she have to work as a team with Erik, she’ll have to face down her fear of wolves. Especially her own.
Let the Games begin.

Review:
Maggie is Missy's sister (we met Missy in the last novella Wolf Flight) but she was so traumatised by events in her past that she hasn't seen her sister or spent any time with other wolves for nearly a decade. Missy has finally managed to convince Maggie to come and visit her and her new pack but Maggie is very wary and not looking forward to being surrounded by wolves.
Erik is the Granite Lake pack's beta (second in charge) but as a favor to Missy he offers to collect Maggie from the airport and make sure she arrives safely. As soon as they meet he recognises that she is his mate but Maggie doesn't trust the tie between them and Erik is going to have to convince her that they are meant to be together.
I really enjoyed the first 2 novellas in the Granite Lake series so I was really looking forward to reading Wolf Games, let me just say Vivian Arend didn't disappoint & this was probably my favorite story in the series so far. Vivian sure does manage to pack a lot into her novellas and although I would love to have one of these stories as a full length novel that is more because I just can't get enough of her wolves than because there is anything lacking from the stories.
Maggie has had a tough time when it comes to other wolves and she finds it impossible to trust them - completely understandable when you find out more about her past. Although she is attracted to Erik she is scared of the bond between them. She is having to deal with being around wolves for the first time in years and when she is forced to become a competitor in the Wolf Games she finds it really difficult. I loved Erik, he is so supportive and protective of Maggie and is determined to help her see how good life could be with the pack. He is also smoking hot but you'll have to read the story to find out just how sexy he is!
I really enjoyed watching them take part in the Wolf Games, they were kind of like the Amazing Race for werewolves & it was fun to see how things panned out. We get to see more of TJ as he is another member of their team - I'm sure I mentioned in my previous reviews how much I love TJ & I am so excited to read his story which is released in October! As usual TJ added a lot of comedy to the story with his clumsy ways, he would definitely be a fun guy to have around. We were also introduced to Jared (another team member) who I'm looking forward to getting to know better in future stories.
Wolf Games is a great installment to the Granite Lake Wolves series and I'm looking forward to reading more from Vivian Arend. I'd definitely recommend this series to fans of steamy paranormal romance - these novellas are perfect for when you want a quick but fun read and I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I have.

Review: Sex Magick - Laura Stamps

The Rune Witch Series is an erotica novella trilogy, featuring Noelle (a feisty alpha Rune Witch) and her HAWT boyfriend Wynn (a sexy shapeshifter). Wynn and Noelle appeared in two of The Witchery Series novels (What Witches Want and Call of the Witches) as secondary characters. Now this lusty couple has a series of their own, which takes place during the hot summer months of August and September in sultry South Carolina. Follow these two as they go from one sexcapade to the next, while Wynn tries everything he can think of to convince commitment-phobic Noelle to marry him. Good thing he never plays fair (naughty grin). Keep a cold drink handy for this series. You're gonna need it!

The Rune Witch Series:
Sex Magick
Bewitched at the Beach
The Harvest Moon
Review:
Noelle and Wynn appeared in 2 books in Laura Stamps' Witchery series but I haven't started that series yet so this was my first introduction to the couple. Although I'm planning on reading The Witchery series I don't think it matters if you read The Rune Witch series before hand - I didn't feel like I was missing anything in this story because I've not met the couple before.
Noelle and Wynn have been together for 5 years now but Wynn only recently convinced Noelle to let him move in. Things are going really well between them but Noelle is still terrified of long term relationships and is putting off marrying Wynn. Wynn on the other hand is determined to get a ring on Noelle's finger & I'm looking forward to seeing how far he will go to try and convince her. Personally I think Noelle is crazy - Wynn is super hot, they have an amazing sex life and you can see how well they suit each other as a couple - what else could she possibly ask for? I'm hoping we get to see more of the reasons behind Noelle's reluctance to commit in future installments.
I already know from reading the first part of Laura's serial novel A Vampire's Kiss how good Laura is at writing hot smexy scenes and Sex Magick didn't disappoint. The heat levels of this novella will make your eyeballs steam! Wynn is one sexy shapeshifter who I'm looking forward to getting to see more of!
Sex Magick is a great quick read if you're looking for an erotic romance story with steamy sex alongside a couple's daily life. I enjoyed watching Noelle & Wynn together and am looking forward to seeing what happens to them in the rest of the series.

Review: Texas Tangle - Leah Braemel
Thanks to her cheating ex-husband and her thieving brother, all horse breeder Nikki Kimball has left is a bruised heart, an overdrawn bank account and an empty home. When sex-on-legs Dillon Barnett and his brooding foster-brother Brett Anderson start showing more than just neighborly attention, Nikki is intrigued...and a little gun-shy.
Dillon and Brett have a history; back in high school, the two friends fought a bitter battle over Nikki. Now, ten years later, Brett still longs to be the man in Nikki's life, but he's determined to stand back and let Dillon win Nikki's heart.
Society says Nikki must choose between the two men she loves. Is Nikki strong enough to break all the rules in order to find happiness?

Review:
Nikki has been through a lot at the hands of her ex-husband and her brother but she has always had her neighbour Dillon and his foster brother Brett to turn to. When her truck breaks down one night and Dillon offers to drive her home they discover her house is empty and everything she owns has been stolen. Moving in with Dillon the heat quickly builds between the two of them but Nikki also has feelings for Brett. Brett and Dillon fought over Nikki years before and now that she is free again they both want to win her heart. Will she be forced to choose between the two of them or can they find a way for them all to be together?
I have to confess that Texas Tangle is the first menage story I've read so I wasn't too sure if I'd like it but I was impressed. Nikki was a likable character who has been through hell and made you want to protect her but for me it was Dillon & Brett who stole the show. Usually when the heroine of a story has 2 men to choose from I find it pretty easy to pick a side but with Dillon & Brett I just couldn't choose between them. Let's just say that if those two sexy men were in my life I think I'd be more than happy to try out a menage relationship!
I found the feelings between the 3 were believable and kept me wanting to read more, I really didn't want to put the book down. The heat between them was incredible & scorched the pages leaving me in need of a cold shower! I loved the fact that Dillon & Brett genuinely cared for each other as well as for Nikki - they were best friends as well as foster brothers and neither wanted to see the other one get hurt. This story really did have a little of everything and I enjoyed the scenes with Dillon's family - his gramma made me laugh out loud and his mother gave Nikki some great advice.
Texas Tangle was an enjoyable erotic story and I could have happily carried on reading more about these characters. It has left me wanting to try more menage stories and I will definitely be checking out more of Leah Braemel's work in the future. I'd recommend this story to any erotic romance fans.

Review:
When crime reporter Sam Cooper stops a jewelry store robbery he suddenly finds himself named New York's most eligible bachelor by the press. With his new found status women are falling over themselves to catch him but Coop isn't interested. The only woman who catches his eye is Lexie and the only thing she is interested in is the ring he was given as a reward - she wants to buy it as a gift for her grandmother who already owns the matching necklace. The attraction between them is intense but when Coop discovers the ring was reported stolen and the pair decide to investigate what they discover will have major implications for their growing relationship.
Kiss Me If You Can was the first book I've read by Carly Phillips but it definitely won't be the last. It was an enjoyable contemporary romance with realistic and likable characters who were easy to relate to. Lexie and Coop are complete opposites in many ways but their characters really complimented each other and I loved the way they were able to talk about their problems and try to work out their issues together. It quickly became clear who was responsible for stealing the ring but I liked the way the investigation helped to develop the relationship between them.
I absolutely loved Lexie's grandmother Charlotte and her best friend Sylvia - the pair were hilarious and their antics caused me to laugh out loud on several occasions. Kiss Me If You Can is an enjoyable light read full of humor and passion. A thoroughly enjoyable story and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series Love Me If You Dare.

Review: Shadow of the Vampire - Meagan Hatfield
Vampire princess Alexia Feodorovna has been undead for 125 years, so it's been a while since any man has made her pulse race. Until Declan Black. One look at his bronzed body and a fire like no other consumes her. Then she discovers that he's a dragon lord come to take revenge on the vamps who killed his parents. And claim a crystal said to imbue its owner with incredible powers.
Alexia is ordered to torture and kill the dragon lord. Yet with each reckless encounter, she finds herself consumed by his fiery passion. A passion Declan battles, as well. Will he be able to resist the fire of lust she kindles within him and keep revenge in his heart? Or will he risk everything to quench the burning desire and claim the vampire as his own?
Although it doesn't state on Meagan's website that this is part of a series she does have 2 other books that feature characters who appeared in this book:
Dragon Warrior (available now)
Vampire in her Mysts (coming soon)
Visit Meagan Hatfield's website for more information
Review:
Alexia is a princess on the verge of taking over from her mother and becoming queen of the vampire horde. She is aware that someone is plotting against her and her mother and wanting to take her place but she is struggling to stop them. When she is ordered to torture and kill a prisoner she isn't expecting the instant attraction she feels when she sees Declan. She feels even more confused when she discovers that Declan is a dragon lord - a mortal enemy of the vampires. Declan was captured when he came to get revenge on the vampires who killed his parents. He was determined to kill the vampire queen and her daughter but after meeting Alexia his feelings start to change. Is there a way for the 2 enemies to work together? Will they be able to resist each other or will the passion between them ignite?
I love dragons and I love vampires so when I saw Shadow of the Vampire on netgalley I couldn't wait to read it. I'm a big fan of paranormal romance and it didn't disappoint me - I loved Declan from the very beginning, the heat between him and Alexia was instant and I wanted to see them find a way to be together. Declan is so caring for Alexia even though his instincts tell him that she is his enemy but he soon realises that things are not as they first seemed and that she has suffered at the hands of someone within the vampire horde who is plotting against her.
Alexia has been through hell and back, she never chose to be involved in Declan's torture but she is powerless against the orders she has been given. She is a strong character though and when it comes down to it she is quite kick ass against her enemies. I have to say that Meagan Hatfield did a great job with the evil vampire - without giving any spoilers I'll just say that I really did detest them which is obviously how I was meant to feel.
There was a lot of action along with some great smexing between Declan and Alexia - definitely my kind of story. I did find myself getting a little confused about the dragon and vampire abilities, it felt a little like I was reading the second book in a series and had missed some information, but that was a minor thing and didn't really effect my enjoyment of the story. Although the story did have a complete ending between the two main characters things are definitely left open for another book in the series which I will definitely be reading if it is released. After looking at Meagan's website it looks like Dragon Warrior (which is available now) is set before Shadow of the Vampire and reading the description for Vampire in her Mysts (no release date available at this time but it says coming soon) this definitely features characters from this book but I'm not sure where it fits into the timeline. Neither of these books are the one I was expecting after the ending of Shadow of the Vampire so I'm guessing that there is at least another book to come and I'm looking forward to reading them all.
If you're a fan of paranormal romance and like dragons and or vampires then I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. It was a great read & I'm looking forward to trying more of Meagan's work.

Review: A Safe Harbor - Moira Rogers
During the bite of the Great Depression, sole female dominant Joan Fuller struggles against the rise of cruelty among her alpha counterparts. The men tolerate her interference--until she breaks from the pack and allies with a witch and a vampire. Now the Boston alpha intends to bring them all forcibly back into the fold--and teach her a lesson she may not survive.
Seamus Whelan and his werewolf bootleggers intend to retire from smuggling and savor their fortune, but first they must do a favor for an old friend: escort some female wolves to safety. An easy job, if their leader wasn't a prim ex-debutante with enough power to challenge Seamus himself. Chance makes them allies; powerful need makes them lovers.
Together, they have the opportunity to build a sanctuary for their kind, but first they must free themselves from Joan's past, and the powerful man who would see her destroyed.
Building Sanctuary Series:
A Safe Harbor
Undertow (October 2010)

Review:
When Joan was turned, against her will, into a werewolf by rich playboy Edwin she was thrown into a shocking new world that she had no idea existed before. The males of her pack, lead by Edwin, treat the women appallingly and Joan is determined to help them escape. Teaming up with a vampire and a witch she becomes alpha of her own pack and is desperate to get her friends away from Edwin and the rest of the Boston pack. Seamus and his bootlegger friends are intending to retire from smuggling and enjoy their wealth in peace when they are asked by a friend to help the women. When he meets Joan and sees the state of her pack he is determined to do whatever he can to keep them safe.
A Safe Harbor is the first story I've read by Moira Rogers (a pseudonym for writing duo Bree & Donna) but it won't be the last. I will definitely continue the Building Sanctuary series and am also planning on starting the author's Red Rock Pass series which this series is a prequel to. Although this is a novella I was quickly sucked into the story and finished it at a fast pace. Joan is a great character, she is a strong Alpha but she is exhausted from caring for her pack and from the energy they are draining from her. She is determined to keep everyone safe but she knows that she has to be ruthless at times to make sure the majority survive and isn't afraid to make tough decisions. Although she has had bad experiences at the hands of male werewolves and is naturally wary of Seamus and his men when they first come into her life as she sees them prove themselves she is quick to accept their help as she knows its for the good of the pack.
Seamus was a fab alpha male, he's strong but caring and he wants to protect Joan and her pack but he treats her as an equal not a simpering female that needs to be wrapped up in cotton wool. He quickly understands why Joan is wary of him and is determined to take things slowly with her and let her see she can trust him. Joan hasn't had a lot of romance in her life so the feelings she has for Seamus are new and frightening to her and she is very easily embarrassed but it doesn't take long for her to warm up to him and discover her passionate side. I'm just going to say watch out for the kitchen loving - Hot with a capital H!
Overall I really enjoyed A Safe Harbor, it had the perfect blend of romance and action with the fight scenes feeling realistic and Joan getting to show what a kick ass heroine she really is. I would have liked to have spent more time with Joan and Seamus, it would have been perfect as a full length novel but for a novella we were given a very complete story. This makes a perfect read for fans of paranormal romance - especially if you're looking for something quick to read - and I would highly recommend it.

Review: Ex Appeal - Cari Quinn

Hunk De Jour Series:
Full Disclosure
Ex Appeal

Review:
Like a lot of couples who have been together for a long time Jenny and Ty have both been neglecting each other recently. Jenny has tried everything to get Ty to pay more attention to her but finally decided enough was enough and ended the relationship. They may have been separated for a month but Jenny can't stop thinking about Ty and when she sees his application form to sign up for the online dating agency she helps run it makes her even more determined to get her man back.
Ex Appeal is the second story in the Hunk De Jour series but although I've not read the first novella I didn't find anything confusing. I thoroughly enjoyed Ex Appeal though and will definitely be reading Full Disclosure as soon as possible. I would highly recommended this book for fans of erotic romance.
Most romance novels I read concentrate on a couple meeting for the first time so it made a refreshing change to read about a couple who have been together a long time but let their relationship go stale. I found it really easy to relate to both Jenny & Ty and found them both very likable characters. I was surprised at how well I got to know them both considering this is a novella rather than a full length book, I found myself really wanting to see them get their happy ending.
Cari Quinn did a fantastic job of turning up the heat between them and the love scenes were incredibly HOT. I was definitely left needing a cold shower after reading this one - I loved it & can't wait to read future stories in this series. Cari has definitely earned her place on my must buy list for any future books she releases.

Review:
Chrissy has made a career out of proving the supernatural doesn't exist, her business is explaining the unexplainable and she does a good job of it. When she meets Kaine he sweeps her off her feet & they jump straight in with both feet with a quickie wedding in Las Vegas. The honeymoon isn't over when Kaine is talking about making babies - something that Chrissy is terrified of. The chemistry between them may be dynamite but there is something strange about Kaine, and something terrifying about the members of staff at his mansion. Chrissy is sure she must be losing her mind - she can't really be seeing the things she's been seeing can she?
I really enjoyed the first book in this series (I Married A Demon) and I love dragons so I was really looking forward to reading I Married A Dragon. Unfortunately this one just missed something for me. Although it had the same humor of the first book and the sexual chemistry was good I just didn't feel strongly for either of the main characters. I can understand the whole idea of love at first sight but I couldn't quite get my head around the fact that they married so quickly without even discussing the idea of children - especially considering Kaine wants to start trying for a baby immediately. When they realised they had vastly different opinions there was no sensible discussion - they just avoided the subject. I had no real understanding of why Chrissy was so against the idea of having children until very near the end of the book which left me constantly feeling like she was overreacting and behaving like a child herself - not an endearing character trait.
Kaine was hot but the way he kept calling her Chrissy-Doll drove me absolutely crazy, that is probably just a personal taste thing but it was getting on my nerves from not very far into the story & the name was used all the time. I also didn't like the way Kaine would rather let Chrissy think she was going crazy than tell her the truth. I didn't get the feeling that he cared for her at all until nearly the end of the book & I couldn't believe she kept looking at him through rose coloured glasses despite the fact he repeatedly told her "I never expected to love you". Who wants to hear that from their new husband? I think most people would be asking why he'd married them! How Chrissy managed to ignore all of the supernatural occurrences I'll never know!
Having said that I still enjoyed the humor of the story and the passion between Chrissy & Kaine was red hot & enjoyable (despite a few dodgy euphemisms for sex that made me cringe a couple of times). I was disappointed when comparing this to the first book in the series but I may try another book in the series if one is released (there were strong hints at a third book I Married A Vampire at the end of this one). Hopefully any future releases will match up to the first book.
